From the Co-Chairs

Welcome to our website for the Brushes with Life: Art, Artists & Mental Illness gallery from the UNC Neuroscience Hospital and UNC Dept of Psychiatry!!

A lot has been happening with our gallery since its creation in December 2000!! Recently we installed our 8th exhibition in the permanent gallery on the 3rd floor of the UNC Neuroscience Hospital in March 2005 and had a well attended reception for our artists, their friends, family members and staff.

A traveling exhibit will go on display at the Carrboro Branch library at the McDougle schools from June to November 2005. A reception is planned for this special exhibit in June. We are currently collecting artwork for this traveling exhibit.

Last year, we had a large special exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) in Raleigh, NC from April to August 2004. This special exhibit is now available to travel around the state to local art councils this year.
As you can see, our volunteer committee has been quite busy continually looking for ways to display our artists creativity and work to a larger audience.
